Eagan Lacrosse Update – YLM and Safe Return to Play Updates

Eagan Lacrosse Families-

Thank you for submitting the EAA Survey regarding Spring/Summer sports and safe return to play.  We are reviewing the survey results, continue to work with EAA regarding safe return to play policies, and have some updates to share from YLM.

YLM is still committed to pursuing all avenues for a summer season.

·         6/15 - YLM will make a Go/No Go decision for the season

·         7/1 – Game Play Season starts

·         8/14 – Game Play Season ends

·         This will be a shortened season for all age groups, 7x7 style/rules and observing social-distancing guidelines

·         No State Tournament will be held due to large amount of people in a confined area

·         YLM website link:  https://www.youthlaxmn.com/

If it is a No-Go decision, we will issue full refunds to all registrants.

If it is a Go decision, we are looking at a partial season.  Partial refunds will be provided and will be prorated based on actual season activity costs.

Here is link to the guidelines for what will be followed for safe return to play for practice sessions when we are able to return to the fields.  Note, we are still waiting to hear from US Lacrosse and YLM on social distance guidelines as well.  These are subject to change based on what we receive from them.  Parents and players are required to sign this form prior to returning to the fields.   (See document below)

Each player and parent is required to electronically sign this ‘EAA Return to Play Waiver’ before they can return to play.  Failure to sign the waiver will deem your player ineligible.

You received an email today from EAA President JJ Kirby regarding working towards a return to play date of June 1.  For Lacrosse, for the 12U/14U age group we are looking at a start date of June 16th and for the 8U/10U age group we are looking to start sometime the week of June 1st.  We are working through Coach communications and training next week.

Per the email on Monday from EAA President JJ Kirby, if you know at this point in time you no longer wish to proceed with the season and would like to request a refund, we ask that you do so by Wednesday, May 27th.  YLM would like teams registered by Friday, May 29th and this will help us in our planning for number of teams if it is a Go decision.  Please send your request to laxdirector@eaasports.org.

Given that we have canceled our annual tournament this year, there will be no DIBS requirements this season.

We will continue to provide updates as we learn more.  Thank you for your patience.

Thank you,

Eagan Lacrosse Board of Directors

Eagan Lacrosse COVID-19 Updates

Eagan Lacrosse, in partnership with Eagan Athletic Association, is monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely. As stated in the EAA emails that have been sent out (see below), all Eagan youth lacrosse activities have been suspended until further notice.

5/22/20 - EAA Email sent regarding COVID

The Eagan Athletic Association has been monitoring the state of Minnesota's COVID-19 response. The last few days have offered incremental clarity around a safe return to youth sport activities.

At this point, the Eagan Athletic Association is guiding our families toward a June 1 return to play. This date is subject to change but reflects current guidance from the Governor's Stay Safe Minnesota order (https://mn.gov/covid19/for-minnesotans/stay-safe-mn/stay-safe-plan.jsp) as well as information obtained from our partners at Twin Cities Soccer Leagues (TCSL), Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA), Metro Baseball League (MBL), Minnesota Softball and Youth Lacrosse Minnesota (YLM).

When we return to the field, it will be a different experience. At first, we will need to stay in smaller groups of ten or less people and maintain appropriate social distance during practices and drills. Game-play will not be part of the initial return to the field, but we are hopeful that that is on the horizon.

Over the next several days, you will be hearing from your respective sport directors and coaches. They will be communicating about the practice and safety procedures that we are putting in place to abide by guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health and CDC:

https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/schools/socialdistance.pdf

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/youth-sports.html

In addition, parents will be required to view and sign a waiver relating to COVID-19 prior to being allowed to participate in EAA activities.

We are excited at the prospect of resuming our spring sport seasons that have been delayed for so long. If you prefer to opt-out of the spring season, please contact me or your sport's director. We are so very grateful for the patience and support of our EAA community!

Sincerely,

J.J. Kirby

EAA President

5/19/20 - EAA Email Sent Regarding COVID

The Eagan Athletic Association and our individual sport programs are working diligently, on a daily basis, to work toward a safe return to play. We have begun to put in place safety procedures, in partnership with various Minnesota Youth Sports organizations, that reflect best practices. Going forward, we will increase our communication with our community as we work toward the goal of providing safe youth sport activities in 2020.

We thank those that responded to our recent survey request. We found some of your responses and comments to be very helpful in our effort to cautiously proceed with developing safe return to play guidelines. For those that would like to opt-out of a return to play this spring, please reach out to me directly at president@eaasports.org or contact your sport's director.

As of now, all EAA sanctioned events remain suspended. This is subject to change on a daily basis as we continue to monitor information coming from the Governor of Minnesota, ISD 196, the City of Eagan, and our partners at MYSA, TCSL, MBL, Minnesota Softball, and YLM.
